Hey neighbors,

November is starting out warm, with highs in the mid-to-upper 70s and mostly sunny skies most of this week. There's only a small chance of a shower Thursday morning. The bees are still flying on these warm afternoons, but the season is winding down. Here's where you can find us over the next month.

Where to find us

  • Sat, Nov 7 · 9:30 AM–1 PM · Ravenel Depot Farmers Market · 5775 Hwy 165, Ravenel

  • Sun, Nov 8 · 11 AM–3 PM · LEARN Horse Rescue · 6861 Ethel Po Rd, Meggett

  • Wed, Nov 18 · 2–7 PM · Clayborn @ Brickyard Crossing Market · Summerville

  • Sat, Nov 21 · 9:30 AM–1 PM · Ravenel Depot Farmers Market · 5775 Hwy 165, Ravenel

  • Fri, Nov 27 · 12–8 PM · Party at the Park · Bay Creek Park, Edisto Beach

  • Sat, Nov 28 · 10 AM–3 PM · Edisto Museum Holiday Market · Edisto Island

Come by for beeswax candles, lip balm, lotion bars, beard balm and oil, surfers balm, and our tallow & beeswax soaps.

If you keep bees: this week

  • Heft your hives. Lift the back of each one an inch or two. If it feels light, feed thick 2:1 syrup now, while it's warm enough for the bees to take it down.

  • Shrink hives to fit. If a colony only covers a few frames, take off the empty boxes so the bees have less space to heat and guard.

  • Make a final queen check. Use a sunny afternoon (Mon–Wed or Friday look best) to look for eggs or young brood. Combine a weak or queenless colony with a strong one now instead of losing it this winter.

  • Watch for robbing. Warm days plus feeding can set it off. Keep entrances narrowed to about two bees wide and don't spill syrup around the yard.

  • Plan your winter mite treatment. December is usually the most broodless month and the best window for oxalic acid. Check your mite levels and get supplies on hand now.
